I. Dead Trees (10:01)

III. The Ember of the End (07:26)
IV. From the Ashes (07:20)
V. Dark Phoenix Rising (04:09)

Note: This recording and released editions should not be seen as the band's second full album. We see it as a mini album or EP.

This recording session was done in June and mixed in July 2015. From the beginning it was only planned to record two songs (“Dead Trees” and “The Ember of the End”) but when we started to rehearse/recording, we felt to revisit an previously recorded song “Bow Down” that got a little more "epic" ending in this version. At the end of the recording blew the creative winds so we wrote and recorded some more songs (“From the Ashes” and “Dark Phoenix Rising” and one more**) to tie together the musical heavy adventure with the other three songs.

** Another song "Hunger" was recorded but not released in the current editions.

The recording is as previously recordings done under simple conditions with only a guitar, bass, drums and vocals. No frills or hocus pocus in the mix.
Unfortunately, Daniel Moilanen could not participate during the recording because of the missions with Katatonia. But we used our close friend Oldfor Suns who temporarily took care of the drumming.

Reviews:

The Burning Beard
www.theburningbeard.com/2015/10/from-ebon-flames.html
"Strong riffs, big recording acoustics, powerful bass presence, and bone-thumping drums are the focus here, though there’s also some sparingly-used deep growls worked in to good effect."

Voices From The Dark Side

"So, after some listening sessions I can only state that “Dark Phoenix Rising” is another must for all the children of Doom out there."

Nine Circles
ninecircles.co/2015/09/04/album-review-heavydeath-dark-phoenix-rising/
"My hope is they make Heavydeath a priority and continue belting out their brand of classic and heavy doom. Definitely take a few spins through this album."

Doomed to Darkness Zine

"In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Heavydeath and if you are a fan of doom/death metal, you should check out this cassette."
